| | The Landing Zone and Twin Creeks Zone all occur in volcanics along the Destor Porcupine Fault/Deformation Zone ("Destor") which here consists of a wide deformation zone within a carbonate (ankerite) alteration envelope. Altered ultramafic volcanics contain fuchsite, while sericite, silica and carbonate (ankerite) alteration is pervasive in the mafic volcanic. Gold mineralization occurs within veins, breccia zones and stockworks of quartz veinlets with 2 - 5% very fine pyrite and occasional visible gold. Barrick concluded that this type of mineralization was erratic and difficult to correlate on strike and dip.
Moneta, UNOCAL, Independence Mining Corp and Barrick have collectively drilled 70 holes on this 2.1 kilometer strike of the Destor since 1986. Some of the better results include:
