Moneta commences drilling Windjammer North to follow-up on historical high-grade intercepts

 Toronto, Ontario -- October 5, 2017 - Moneta Porcupine Mines Inc. (TSX:ME) (OTC:MPUCF) (XETRA:MOP) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has mobilized a third diamond drill rig to test new targets generated through a technical review of its gold projects and has commenced diamond drilling on the Windjammer North target within the Company's Golden Highway Project located approximately 110km east of Timmins, Ontario (see link below).

Highlights:
  • The Company has mobilized a third drill, with plans to add a fourth drill, to test new drill targets on the Golden Highway Project;
  • Windjammer North is the third of the new targets to be drill tested;
  • The Windjammer North Zone consists of five west plunging zones up to 50m wide and over 400m in strike length, located within sheared altered ultramafic rocks;
  • Sampling of previously un-sampled core returned up to 0.76m @ 20.31g/t Au and 0.90m @ 6.18g/t Au from hole WJ-88-38 at Windjammer North;
  • Historical results from previous drilling of up to 8.10m @ 10.69g/t Au and 7.80m @ 7.86g/t Au have been returned from this new target area.
Windjammer North Zone

The Windjammer North Zone (see link) is located immediately south of, and parallel to the regional Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone ("DPFS"), trending ENE (070°) and hosted primarily within altered komatiitic ultramafic rocks of the Kidd-Munro assemblage. The target zone consists of at least five west plunging (~25°W) zones up to 50m wide, that can be traced for over 400m along strike (see link). The zones show an aggregate thickness of over 100m.

The zone contains massive to brecciated ultramafic metavolcanics that have been altered to grey to green-grey fuchsitic carbonate in the western and central portion of the zone with more mafic metavolcanics to the east displaying albite bleaching and sericite alteration. Fracture-filling chlorite and specular hematite are common. Gold mineralization is associated with pyrite-rich white to light grey quartz veining and veinlets. The structural corridor has been intruded by variably altered felsic intrusive dykes.

The current drill program consists of a total of 6 drill holes for 3,060m designed to confirm and test the size and grade potential including the eastern and western extensions of the mineralized zones at Windjammer North. The western most of the holes will test the western extensions between the main modelled zones and hole WJ-88-38 which returned significant grades from infill core sampling conducted during 2017 (see link).

Core Sampling Program

The diamond core resampling program conducted over the summer of 2017 included the sampling of historical drill core which had not been previously sampled, but has been identified as possible extensions to newly identified zones that were not previously recognized. Hole WJ-88-38 is located ~150m from the nearest hole at Windjammer North and displayed similar alteration and mineralization to the zones identified to the east. Resampling of drill core from drill hole WJ-88-38 returned assays of 0.76m @ 20.31g/t Au at a depth of 267.0m and 0.90m @ 6.18g/t Au at a depth of 185.2m (see link). The intercepts are from quartz veined, green carbonate altered ultramafic rocks. The intercepts are interpreted to be extensions of the newly identified west plunging mineralization zones and the current drill program will test the western extensions of the zones that have not been systematically drilled.

Strategic Target Review

As part of the 2017 strategic technical review of all its projects and targets within the Company's portfolio of gold projects within the Timmins Gold Camp, the Company also completed resampling of historical core from areas adjacent to newly defined zones which had not been previously sampled. The project review process also included the re-logging and re-interpretation of the geology, mineralization and structural setting of historical targets with a focus on higher grade targets. Due to the size and grade potential of the targets generated by the strategic review, the Company is systematically drill testing a number of these targets commencing with the Discovery and LC Zones and now the Windjammer North target. The new targets generated will be drill tested within the current ~20,000m program, which is to be completed by the end of the year with up to 4 drill rigs. The Company is currently reviewing targets from the North Tisdale and Nighthawk Lake project areas.

QA/QC Procedures

For the assays reported in this release from the re-sampling program, the core was sawn and half sent for drying and crushing to -2mm, with a 250g split pulverized to -75µm (200#). A 30g charge was analyzed by Fire Assay with a gravimetric finish. For the re-sampling program the Company inserted independent certified reference material, blanks, and pulp repeats with the samples and completed third-party check assays at an independent laboratory. Gary O'Connor, MAusIMM has reviewed and approved the contents of this press release.

Moneta commences drilling second target on the Golden Highway Project

Toronto, Ontario - September 28, 2017 - Moneta Porcupine Mines Inc. (TSX:ME) (OTC:MPUCF) (XETRA:MOP) (“Company”) is pleased to announce that it has commenced a diamond drilling program on the LC Zone, the second newly generated target on the Company’s Golden Highway Project after completing a comprehensive technical review of all gold projects. The project is located approximately 110km east of Timmins, Ontario (See Figure 1).

Highlights:

  • LC Zone to be drilled with a second drill rig to test newly developed targets;
  • The LC Zone is the second of several new targets to be drill tested by up to 4 drill rigs;
  • Significant gold mineralization is located within quartz veins along the margins of a SE dipping syenite porphyry body which has been traced for over 600m;
  • Results of up to 6.71m @ 10.82g/t Au and 6.57m @ 9.53g/t Au have been returned from previous drilling at the LC Zone.

LC Zone Target Drill Program
The LC Zone (see Figure 2) is located to the immediate south of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone (“DPFZ”) and is associated with the deeper of two SE dipping syenite feldspar porphyry intrusions.

The deeper intrusion is silicified and hosts strong “measle” style alteration consisting of coarse pyrite clots up to 1cm in size occurring as replacement and fracture filling within strongly buff to white bleached silicified intrusive giving the appearance of “measles”. Gold bearing white quartz veining and brecciation generally occurs with pyrite and chlorite veinlets associated with this alteration style on or near to the margins of the intrusion.

The syenite feldspar porphyry bodies are hosted within generally weakly altered komatiitic ultramafic and minor mafic volcanic rock units of the Kidd-Munro assemblage, with some shearing occurring to the immediate north associated with the DPFZ. The upper intrusion surfaces and hosts weaker alteration and gold mineralization. The deeper altered intrusive body has been traced for over 600m. The bodies dip ~50 to the SE and are seen to occur up to 75m in thickness and be separated by 25-40m of weakly altered ultramafic and lesser mafic volcanic units. The mineralized quartz veining and brecciation zones are variable in size and have been seen up to 10m in thickness. Coarse visible gold has previously been observed in 3 locations hosted by quartz veining and drill intercepts of up to 6.71m @ 10.82g/t Au and 6.57m @ 9.53g/t Au have been returned.

Initially drilling will consist of 9 drill holes drilled on an azimuth of 300 (NW) for a total of 3,500m, designed to test the true width of the mineralization. An additional 6 holes for 2,200m could be drilled if results are positive. The LC Zone target is located outside of the NI 43-101 resource.

Strategic Target Review
The Company commenced a strategic technical review of all projects and targets within the Company’s portfolio of gold projects within the Timmins Gold Camp over the summer of 2017. The strategic review has generated several higher grade targets warranting drill testing on the Golden Highway structural corridor. The Company is now completing a technical review of the gold projects on other projects including the North Tisdale and Nighthawk Lake projects. The LC Zone is the second of the new targets to be drill tested within the current ~20,000m program, which is to be completed by the end of the year with up to 4 drill rigs.

QA/QC Procedures
All drilling conducted by the Company will be oriented. Drill core will be sawn and half sent for drying and crushing to -2mm, with a 1kg split pulverized to -75m (200#). A 50g charge will be Fire Assayed and analyzed using a AAS finish for Gold. Samples above 10g/t Au will be analyzed by Fire Assay with a gravimetric finish and selected samples with visible gold or high-grade mineralization will be assayed by Metallic Screen Fire Assay. The Company will insert independent certified reference material, blanks, pulp repeats and sample duplicates with the samples as well as complete third-party check assays. Gary O’Connor, MAusIMM has reviewed the contents of this press release.

Moneta completes technical review and commences drilling new targets on Golden Highway Project

 Toronto, Ontario - September 19, 2017 - Moneta Porcupine Mines Inc. (TSX:ME) (OTC:MPUCF) (XETRA:MOP) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has completed a comprehensive technical review of its gold projects and has commenced the 2017 diamond drill program on newly generated targets on the Company's Golden Highway Project located approximately 110km east of Timmins, Ontario.

Highlights:
  • The Company has initially mobilized one drill rig, with plans to add up to 3 additional drill rigs, to drill test newly developed drill targets on the Golden Highway Project;
  • The Discovery Zone is the first of the new targets generated to be drill tested;
  • The Discovery Zone is seen to consist of 6 steeply dipping parallel structures over a height of 275m open to depth and a strike length of 250m;
  • Historically drilling of the Discovery Zone has returned assays of up to 7.20m @ 6.24g/t Au and 7.00m @ 5.86g/t Au.

Strategic Target Review

The Company has spent the summer of 2017 completing a strategic review of all projects and targets within the Company's portfolio of gold projects within the Timmins Gold Camp which resulted in an extensive program including the re-interpretation and relogging of the geology, mineralization style and structural setting of historical targets as well as the sampling of previously un-sampled historical drill core. The strategic review has generated a number of higher grade targets displaying the size and grade potential to warrant drill testing. The initial priority has been on the Golden Highway Project where the Company has historically outlined a large low grade open pit resource along and adjacent to the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone ("DPFZ"). The Discovery Zone is the first of the new targets to be drill tested within the current ~20,000m program to be completed by the end of the year with up to 4 drill rigs.

Discovery Zone

The Discovery Zone (see Figure 1) is located on a southern splay of the DPFZ and is hosted within altered komatiitic ultramafic rocks of the Kidd-Munro assemblage to the north and within the sheared fault contact with greywacke units of the Timiskaming age sedimentary rocks to the south. The faulted contact dips steeply to the south (~75°). A total of 6 structural zones have been modelled within a south dipping structural corridor over an aggregate width of 35m and trending ENE, parallel to the DPFZ. The structures have been traced for a strike length of 250m and over a height of 275m and remain open in both directions. The individual mineralized zones dip at the same orientation as the DPFZ and are noted by strong quartz veining, quartz stockwork and pyrite alteration.

Figure 1: Discovery Zone- Golden Highway Project Location Map

Figure 2: Discovery Zone Cross Section: Historical intercepts and proposed drill program

The ultramafic rocks have been altered to grey-green and green carbonate (fuchsite) with pervasive ankerite and chlorite-pyrite fracture filling and alteration of the sediments and ultramafic units. Quartz (silica) alteration and veining is associated with mineralization often with fluorite rims. Mineralization occurs within the altered and sheared ultramafic units, quartz feldspar and feldspar porphyry dykes and quartz cemented breccia zones. Altered clasts of quartz feldspar and feldspar porphyry dykes occur as clasts within the breccia zones. An interpretative section is included as Figure 2 to show the structural setting of the Discovery Zone and the planned drill program.

The initial drill program designed to confirm and test the extent and grade of the zones will consist of a total of 6 drill holes for 2,230m with 3 new holes and 3 drill extensions of historical holes which stopped short of the prospective sedimentary-ultramafic contact zone. An additional 2 holes for 1,140m are planned should results warrant. The Discovery Zone target is located outside of the historical resource.

QA/QC Procedures

All drilling conducted by Moneta will be oriented. Drill core will be sawn and half sent for drying and crushing to -2mm, with a 1kg split pulverized to -75µm (200#). Moneta will insert independent certified reference material, blanks, pulp repeats and sample duplicates with the samples as well as complete third-party check assays. Gary O'Connor, MAusIMM has reviewed the contents of this press release.
