The 55 Zone is located one kilometer along strike west-southwest of the Southwest Zone and hosts gold mineralization in quartz and quartz carbonate en-echelon veining associated with altered greywacke. The altered greywacke is found between two iron formation horizons with the northern one along the ultramafic to mafic volcanic contact. Additional high grade mineralization occurs when these veins intersect the northern iron formation and cause extensive sulphidization.
Highlights from drilling include 9.68 g/t Au over 27.75m and 5.81 g/t Au over 7.40m. Alteration is predominantly sericite and ankerite often with finely disseminated pyrite and scattered coarser grained subhedral aggregates in veins. Visible gold and rare accessory molybdenite and chalcopyrite have been observed.
The mineralized system is currently known to extend for 600 metres along strike, up to 150m in width and to a depth of 300 metres, with significant untested potential along strike and to depth.
